New England Search and Rescue is a volunteer force, we do not collect a pay, and we do not charge a fee!
New England Search and Rescue is a non-profit, search and rescue team, staffed by a dedicated and professional group of volunteers , that stand ready to carry out the mission of NESAR. Our mission is to promote boating and marine safety to the general public, and when called upon, to provide search and rescue efforts, in conjunction with local, state, and federal agencies. We work with local police and fire departments, state environmental management teams, as well as the United States Coast Guard and United States Coast Guard Auxiliary. NESAR will also work with local families to locate missing loved ones......the motto and belief of NESAR, is that we can bring everyone home!
The Northeast and New England is some of the most densely populated areas of the US, and we have hundreds of thousands of miles of coastline and waterways. This means, that on the average, thousands take to the water on a daily basis to enjoy all that the water offers. With that enjoyment, also comes risk and hazards, NESAR provides boating safety education, CPR and First Aid certification, as well as Navigation and Boat Handling education to the general public. NESAR also greatly promotes the efforts of the USCG and USCG Auxiliary in promoting boating safety and recommending that everyone wear a life jacket!
New England Search and Rescue, currently consists of about 40 volunteers, including office staff, recruiters, EMT's, divers, firefighters, police officers, USCG licensed Captains, Communications, logistics, and various other support staff, who freely give their time and expertise to the community. We staff an office and training room in historic, downtown, Pawtucket, Rhode Island, that stands ready to service all of your training needs. NESAR Operations also staffs a Mobile Incident Command Post/Operations Center available with state of the art equipment and emergency dive and medical gear. Our Operations also consist of Marine Safety Patrols, which patrol populated waterways throughout the year. Our fleet of vessels are currently comprised of a 25' Center Console, a 28' Cruiser, and 30' Off Shore boat. These vessels allow us to meet the needs of any requested services.
NESAR is always looking for help! If you wish to volunteer your time or if you have supplies or equipment to donate, please click on the above links or contact a member of the Command Staff. We are always in need of community support and monetary donations for fuel, maintenance, dockage, medical supplies, uniforms, etc...
